KL Sights by Train — Nearest Station to Every Attraction
Most of Kuala Lumpur's big sights are a short walk from a train station. The trick is knowing which station — several share a name with a nearby mall or sit a block away from the place they're named after. Here's the shortlist, with the line to take.
Paying: Rapid KL trains (LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT and the Shah Alam Line) don't yet take a bank card at the gate. Use a Touch 'n Go card, or buy a token at the machine (cash or card). KTM Komuter and the airport trains work differently — see fares & passes.

Batu Caves timing: track works on the Komuter network run until about the end of 2026. On weekdays, Batu Caves trains run only about hourly between 10am and 4pm and around every 30 minutes at peak; at weekends they're roughly hourly. Check the next departure in the live timetable before you set off — and note the last train back from Batu Caves leaves well before the last one out.
New: the Shah Alam Line
The LRT Shah Alam Line (SAL) opened on 29 June 2026, running from Bandar Utama — where it meets the MRT Kajang Line — to Johan Setia. It also links to the Kelana Jaya Line at Glenmarie (a covered bridge, and you tap out to change). It's the easiest way to i-City and central Shah Alam without a car.
Getting in from the airport
The fastest way is the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral — 28 minutes from Terminal 1, every 20 minutes. Airport buses to KL Sentral are much cheaper but take about an hour. Our airport guide compares every option.
